Ghosts Act 2

In act 2 Mrs. Alving has her suspicions that her son Oswald and Regine are flirting. Pastor Manders keeps telling Mrs. Alving that Regine needs to go with her father Engstrand but he finds out that Engstrand isn't Regine's father, Mr. Alving is her father. Mrs. Alving and Pastor Manders talk about their past, and he explains how he had to battle with himself , "It was my life's greatest victory, Helene; victory over myself " (127), because he too had feelings for her but instead he sent her back to her husband.
Mrs. Alving talks about how she feels there are ghosts haunting her. First her husband and Johanna, Regine's mother, and even though she sent her son away so he wouldn't witness his father's actions, now he is just like him.
Then Oswald talks to his mother and makes a confession that he is sick, meanwhile also letting her know what he really thinks about Regine. They all sit and talk and Oswald says how they want to marry. Mrs. Alving then feels that she should let them know the truth but a fire interrupts.
