Scene 10

In Scene ten Stanley comes home from the hospital he says they says the baby will come in the morning. Blanche claims that a wire came for her from Shep, an invitation for her to go on a cruise to the Caribbean. Blanche tells Stanley that not only did she recieve this invitation from her admirer but she sent Mitch packing. She said he came to see her in his work clothes and relayed these stories to her that were so untrue. Then claims he came back begging her forgiveness with a box of roses. But Stanley says he knows theres no oil millionarie and there was no wire and Mitch didn't come back here because he knew where he was. Blanche is surprised and she trys to call someone but then Stanley come back into the room and she leave the phone of the hook. In the end of the Scene Blanche falls to the floor and cries out Stanley picks her up and brings her to the bed. To end the Scene the music gets louder as he rapes her.

Scene 8&9

In Scene 8 Blanche finally comes out of the bathroom to find that Mitch is not coming over and no one will tell her why. She asks Stanley to tell a funny joke or story but he refuses. So Blanche tells what she thinks is a funny story about a parrot who had a dirty mouth. Stanley shows the women how he clears the table, he does this by throwing some dishes on the floor. Blanche insists that Stanley has told Stella something but they both keep denying it. They fight about it a bit after Blanche calls Mitch. Stella is very upset with what Stanley did to her sister. At the end of this Scene Stella says take me to the hospital, which means the baby is coming.

In Scene 9 Mitch goes over to talk to Blanche but she still does not know what he has been told. Throughout this whole Scene there is a Mexican woman in the background saying "flowers for the dead". Blanche keeps hearing the polka music that was playing the night she lost her husband. Mitch is angry with Blanche he tells her everything and she says that some of it is lies. She still claims she has never been to a hotel called the Flamingo, but she jokes abouts going to one called The Tarantula Arms. Blanche tells Mitch everything about her past, even about her young husband and how she lost him. Allan was his name and he killed himself because Blanche knew that he was gay and she told him she saw him with the other man. Blanche says she didn't lie to him in her heart. She said she simply didn't want to loose Mitch. Mitch tries to have sex with Blanche and she tells him to stop before she starts yelling fire. He persists and she starts screaming, he says all he wanted to do was get what he had been missing all summer. He tells her she is to dirty to bring in his home with his mother. Mitch is now is gone and Blanche falls to the floor crying.

Scene 6&7

Scene six is a conversation between Blanche and Mitch, they seem as though they are becoming very close to one another. Blanche tells Mitch of how Stanley is so rude to her and she cannot stay in his house any longer. Mitch is amazed that anyone can be rude to her. He tells her of how he perspires so terribly and she doesn't care, Blanche says its natural.

In Scene seven it's Blanches birthday and Mitch is supposed to come over for supper as they call it and cake. But little did Blanche know that Stanley had been snooping around to find any dirt he could on her. While Blanche is taking one of her daily hot baths Stanley tells Stella all that he has heard. Stella refuses to believe him. Stella asks if Stanley's supply-man told him of all Blanches losses, how she lost her young husband. Stella knows that there are things in Blanches past that aren't great. But Stella still loves her sister no matter what she did in her past. In the background you can they can hear Blanche singing in the tub. Stanley tells Stella not to be expected Mitch over because he has told him all this.

Both these Scenes are short but important.

in scene 6-9 Stanly and Stella find out the truth about Blanche and so does Mitch. Mitch and Blanche talk about what really happened to Blanche's husband in scene 6. But then in scene 7 threw 8 talks about Blanche's birthday Stanly tells Stella about everything that really happened to her sister and how she lied about everything Stanly also tells Stella the he is the king of the house and he shouldn't have to clean he plate. Stanly also buys a ticket for Blanch to go back to Laurel for Tuesday and gives it to her on her birthday. Stanly also tells Mitch the whole story to seeing how Blanche really likes Mitch and Mitch also felt the same but as soon as Stanly tells Mitch there becomes a different side to him Mitch is now upset and mad. And Mitch shows the side in scene 9 when he puts the light in to Blanches face.

From Stanley's perspective of view, its understandable why he want to sent Blanche back to where she came from. After Blanche came and moved in with them, there has been fights between everyone. Stanley couldn't do the things he does without Blanches complains. Blanche always talking about how "high-class" she is, and also she often like to put Stella down, by insulting her. Blanche wasn't respecting Stanley even though she living in his house. If I was Stanley, I would want to kick Blanche out too.

During the scenes of 6-9, I sort of understand why Blanche done those things in her past, and why she came to Stalla. She found out her husband, who she loves very much has cheated on her with a man (worse than a woman). Then he killed himself. Of course this would make her feel like she's not worth anything. Then she went to Flamingo Hotel, do to the XXX things. To me, she did all these things in her past including Flamingo, is because she want love, and she want to be appreciated, noticed and of course, she probably need the money also since she's "high-class". She then moved to Stella, i feel like maybe because she doesn't want anything t do with her past anymore, and she want to move on. Now she found Mitch, even though it may seem like she may not like him as much, but she still does, and she want stay with him, and grow with him. She doesn't want him to find out about her past, and she just want to begin a new life in New Orleans.

This play is different from the play Ghost. In Streetcar Named Desire, it's mainly about Blanche wanting someone, and she try to manipulate people. But in the play Ghost, it's mainly about Mrs. Alving actually manipulate people in every way and get everything in her way.

After reading the past few scenes, it showed me how Blanche is a big flirt, and she even tried to flirt with Stanley, but it didnt work. Even though Stanley beat Stella, but it still seem like he really care about stella. From rejecting Blanche to button her shirt up, to crying and begging Stella to come back. He really did made an effort. Stella is just too kind with everyone. when Blanche was talking down to her, and Stanley treat her disrespectly when his friends was around, she still treat them good, and take care of them. That just show that Stella is definatly the loyal one in the play.

During scene one threw five the characters are all bringing out something different in the scenes with scene one Blanche comes to New Orleans to live with her sister Stella and her Husband Stanley and tells them that in scene two and Blanche finds out that her baby sister is having a baby and Blanche tells Stella that she lost Belle Reve that is when Stanley was getting mad and during the poker game Stanley started to get drunk and then during the end of the play hit Stella. But during act three it turns out that Stella forgives Stanley. In my opinion I don’t think that a person shouldn’t be forgiven at all at least not the next day. But during the middle of act three Blanche and Mitch start to hit it off. But in scene four Blanch tells Stella what she really thinks about Stanley and says that she should leave him and continues to talk about it all the way threw act five but during act five Blanche starts to get nerves because she cant wait to see Mitch she also flirts with the young boy who was going door to door asking people if they would like to give money for the newspaper.

A Streetcar Named Desire

The street car named desire is a much different play then Ghost. While reading scenes 1-5 it was catching more of my attention especially in scene three when Stanley was getting drunk during the poker game and lets his temper get the best of him and decides to hit Stella and then starts crying out for her and then she goes back to him. I think that any married women should go right back to her husband after what happen. While reading the scenes they start to bring out all the characters especially during scene one threw five. These scenes capture something different about the characters In the Street Car Named Desire.

Stella and Blanche talk a lot in acts three and four. Blanche wants Stella to leave Stanley. She asks is she remembers a man she used to date in college. This man is now rich from oil mines in Texas, Blanche claims he will help them. But what Blanche still doesn't understand is that Stella wont leave her husband and father of her soon to be child. Blanche goes on about how terrible Stanley is and how she is better than that and deserves better. Blanche tells Stella that she wants Mitch and that she is nervous because he is coming over to take her out and she is worried because she wants him to like her and she doesn't want him to think she is old. Stanley confronts Blanche asking her if she knows a a man named Shaw from the Flamingo hotel. Blanche tells him that the man must have her confused. Blanche is obviously lying, because right after Stanley leaves Blanches cries out to Stella asking her what she has heard about her. Stella says nothing and Blanche says she has been bad for the past two years since she lost Belle Reve. Stella leave Blanche at home to go to the bowling alley where Stanley is because Blanche is waiting for Mitch to get her. But while Blanche is waiting a young man collecting for the paper come by and Blanche being the woman that she is she can't resist so she kisses the young man than send him on his way. Then as the boy is leaving Mitch comes around the corner with a bunch of roses for Blanche she seems as though she is blown away.

As some of you may know this is my second time reading this play. I personally thought it was great and as many believe things are better the second time around. I can agree. In the first few acts we meet almost all the characters. The most important ones would be Blanche, Stella, Stanley, and Mitch. Blanche is Stella's sister from Mississippi. Blanche is crazy in my eyes, she flirts with her own sisters husband, she flirts with his friend. And she lies, Blanche states in the beginning that she rarely touches liquor. But when she thinks no one is watching she drinks up. Stella and Blanche come home to unintentionally interrupt the boys poker game. This is where Blanche meets Mitch one of Stanley's poker buddies. Stanley get angry when Blanche turns the music on he throws the music box out the window and flips out. He hits Stella and then his friends throw him in a shower. Blanche takes Stella upstairs to Eunice's house, but Stella runs back down to Stanley as soon as he starts calling for her. Everyone tries to tell Blanche that it is okay and this always happens and that Stanley and Stella love one another. Blanche doesn't get it.
Blanche = Depressed, alcoholic with a serious mental condition
Stella = Crazy, pregnant woman who loves her woman beating husband
Stanley = Drunk, barbaric controlling man who thinks everyone should be below him

Since I found the character of Blanche somewhat interesting in the sense that she was a little flirt I found a video on youtube and I wanted to share. A Streetcar named Desire

I find this drama very interesting, after learning a little bit more about the author in class it made me more interested in the play. I thought that from the beginning A Streetcar named Desire, gave the reader a sense of mystery. At first I thought there was some sort of connection with Stanley and Blanche but then I learn that she likes Mitch, even though as I kept reading it seemed to me as if she is a "flirt." My first impression of her wasn't that great, she seemed as the type of person who likes to criticize a lot.

Then I noticed how not only Stanley and and Stella have a "crazy" relationship but then it sounds as if Eunice and Steve have a similar relationship. These relationships aren't healthy and so Williams describes a lot of "animal noises" and Stanley as a man that offers such "animal force."
